Today was my first Sunday at Fort Jackson during CHBOLC. I woke up at around 0830 and went down with some other chaplains for breakfast at the DFAC. The ham and cheese omelets are incredible here.
After breakfast we picked some other chaplains up and five of us went to a local Assemblies of God church here in Columbia. It was a great time of worship and encouragement. While I have some theological differences with the Assemblies of God, it truly was God glorifying. I felt spiritually refreshed and was ready for a relaxing day before we pick up the pace tomorrow.
After church I drove by Wendy's and got some lunch. I came back to my hotel, ate lunch and took a nap. Afterwards I went and helped some of the other chaplains access their military emails and started working on assignments and studied. I knocked out the quick essay we had to write, a quiz on plagiarism and read some of the Army regulations we are going to be focusing on in the coming weeks. I called Sophia and printed out some paperwork.
Tomorrow starts our first real week of CHBOLC. We are all showing up in PT's for formation at 0500 but from what I understand PT is not supposed to officially start until the 10th. Either way I am glad to be in some sort of uniform for the first time. Looking forward to what God has in store for the week!
Emotional Intelligence Lesson:
Examples of Lack of Social Awareness: Not allowing others to feel good about their plans even if you have a plan that you think is better. Not seeing the forest for the trees.
